Creative Reuse
Brief - Proposals are required to create a new learning/ teaching hub within St Peter's Church. The Hub will act as a focus for design teaching at the university and establish a space to support problem-based learning and group activities. It must also consider the surrounding space and social interaction, taking into account the existing interiors fixtures, fittings and period the mix of the old with the new.
Barcelona Pavilion
As a practice task, for learning Sketch Up, I created the Barcelona Pavilion on Sketch Up. Once exported I used photoshop and illustrator to render the model.
Retail Project
Brief - Design a freestanding installation that relates/reflects in its design styling and branding/identity. Image and identity are important. The design you create must encourage/tempt buyers to the bigger brand/store, the installation must sell the brand through shape, form and branding to attract and entice interest in the public. You will need to think about who it is you are trying to attract. A study of the sort of people you are aiming at (target market) would therefore be useful.
Story Of A Walk
Brief - This project is an exercise in conveying a narrative (story) through the arrangement of space, objects and media. The story will be of your making and the media of your choice, and the space is the PR1 Gallery. The essential point of this project is for you, to create your own narrative and to interpret in your own design for a gallery installation. It is about using spaces to tell stories.
Furniture Project
Brief - You are asked to design a freestanding cabinet / storage system in the style of your chosen designer (Ben Kelly). The main carcass to be designed using veneered, painted or laminated MDF. Measurements should not exceed a maximum height of 1000mm, width 600-1000mm, depth 600-800mm.
Stairs Project
Brief - A Student Union Building is currently very poorly served for stair access between the ground and first floors, the new stairs will connect the two floors and create a more vibrant space (underpinning narrative for the project can focus around students, student life and the student union). This is an ideal opportunity to produce a dynamic piece of contemporary design whilst addressing the functional, structural, and detail aspects of that design.
