Brief - The plan provided is for an apartment residence in an upcoming modern district in London with a view overlooking The Thames River. A married couple has just purchased this unit with the intent to renovate to their personal taste. Recently, one of them has been in a very serious accident and may be wheelchair bound for life therefore consideration for accessibility must be shown in certain spaces. The budget of £70,000-£80,000 is to include all finishes, lighting, flooring and furniture.
Observation
Brief - Working independently you are to undertake a study on a specific Serpentine Pavilion (Frida Escobedo). You are to research the architect and the structure they designed. You are then to represent the pavilion in the form of both a CAD drawing and a card model. You don't have to CAD/ model up the whole structure, you can select an element of it you feel it particularly strong and focus on that area.
Enclosure
Brief - The design studio needs an 'enclosure' for students and staff alike to hold informal meetings and presentations. In order to understand the studio space you will need to undertake a sight survey of the area you intend to use. For the enclosure, it would be beneficial if it could also house magazines and small models. The enclosure does not necessarily need to block out noise, therefore varying degrees of transparency, holes, gaps etc should be considered.
Revitalise
Brief - Year 1 Interior Design and Fashion Promotion are required to work in teams in order to design and create a new hotel concept for a brand. Your concept should be keeping with your brands current identity and offer a unique experience in which the customer can engage with the brand on a different level. Consider current and forthcoming trends, research into other hotels and with your knowledge, propose an innovative hotel experience, which pushes the concept and boundaries of the leisure industry and spacial design.
